Brie Austin (his pen name) began his
career as an entrepreneur in 1982 owning/operating transportation/logistics
companies that provided time critical and other specialty services
to such industry leaders as DuPont, Couristan Carpets, Exhibit
Group, Jaguar, Cannon, Sumitomo, Goldstar, MSC and Ford. By 1995,
he and his partner created the largest independent delivery and
installation network of its kind in North America. They had
service hubs in 28 cities and served clients such as NASA, FBI, Department of Justice, BT Summit,
Jannus Group, American Express, and the Federal Reserve.
By 1998
he oversaw a national trucking & freight brokerage
company, an International Freight Forwarding company, a
local trucking company, a 200,000 square foot general
warehouse and a polymer packaging plant. T
He simultaneously pursued his interests in
media throughout the 1990s:
produced hip
hop concerts, owned & operated two nationally distributed record
companies, and served as the Executive Producer for an independent
feature film distributed by Pathfinder Home Entertainment, and a
documentary that aired on the Bravo cable network in 2003. In 1999
he divested himself of all non-media involvements.
He
began writing professionally as a journalist in 2001 with a
column in Girl Talk Magazine called A Bite Of The Big Apple.
Since then he has been published in magazines, newspapers and
websites in ten countries. He also has written business content
for many websites on a contract basis.
In
2005 Brie completed co-writing the memoir of Harriet Wright
entitled, I'd Do It Again. Currently,
he is working on several book
projects.
Brie
is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, the
National Writers Union and
resides in New York City and Buenos Aires.
